I grew up around jazz musicians and actors as a child. I started writing poetry at a young age and played instruments whenever I could find them (violin, piano, tuba you name it). Sound, music and songwriting have always been a soul led journey for my own healing and a tool for connection to my true self and the outside world. Through my exploration of music and creative expression I’ve journeyed through a fun career as a songwriter, musician and music coach. After many wonderful years of tours, independent releases and creating my own online music school “The Ukulele Rockers” I found the magic of sound bowls and music meditation.

In 2020 I lost my father. It was a true moment of surrender into songwriting and transmuting the deep grief into peace via the vessel of my EP “The Shape of Light” under my artist name of “Miss Elm”. The songs from this release were featured in short films, broadcast on UK radio and reached places I could never imagine.

In processing my grief I attended an Art and Craft retreat (in Byron Bay) and experienced a sound meditation with crystal quartz sound bowls for the first time. It was a transformational experience for me. A deep release happened inside my heart that I’d never felt before. It was as if my whole body melted into golden honey, oozing from the centre of my heart. In that moment, I knew that my music was to take a different form in the way of facilitating sound bowl meditations and servicing the healing of others with sound and art.

This is where the Expression Atelier was born.
